2010 Chateau Canon 750ml
Located in New York
Visitors to Bordeaux’s Saint-Emilion might be surprised to see Château Canon’s walled vineyards extending into the village itself but would surely do a double-take at the sight of these Premier Grand Cru Classé vines still being ploughed by horse. A rare sight today, indeed, and so too is the style of this Grand Vin, which harks back to a bygone era of Bordeaux. Although 2010 was a powerhouse vintage, Canon has managed to rein in the voluptuous fruit, mocha, dark cherry and spice, balancing them admirably with cooling acidity and fine-boned tannins. Just entering its drinking window, this classic claret is excellent right now with roast lamb, game or steak frites.

Reviews & Scores
Wonderful nose with strawberries, cherry blossom, and vanilla. The red opens up with blueberries, milk chocolate and sweet licorice. Full and juicy on palate with pure dark fruit and velvety tannins. So nicely layered texture and long in the finish with red fruit and crushed chalk. JS

Deep garnet colored, the 2010 Canon features wonderfully expressive notes of dried mulberries, stewed plums and baked black cherries with hints of mocha, bay leaves and fallen leaves. Full-bodied, opulent and super spicy, it has a plush texture with a racy line supporting the hedonic fruit, finishing with jaw-dropping persistence. - WA
